CREDIT CONTROLLER / SALES LEDGER CLERK

MANCHESTER

UP TO £21,000 + EXCELLENT BENEFITS

Currently recruiting on behalf of a leading and well-respected company located in the Manchester area. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Credit Controller / Sales Ledger Clerk to join their team.

The position of Credit Controller is a position which is an exciting opportunity for a diligent and driven individual who is looking to join a challenging and rewarding environment surrounded by motivated, friendly colleagues. You will be responsible for chasing any overdue payments and negotiating repayment plans.

THE ROLE:

  • Working as a stand alone credit controller with responsibility for 4 ledgers
  • Processing daily sales invoices and credit notes
  • Posting cash allocation to customer accounts and carrying out reconciliations
  • Acting as the main point of contact with the factoring company
  • Liaising with clients over phone and email
  • Reporting issues with payments to the Financial Controller
  • Handle disputed accounts to resolve issues and bring them in line
  • Identify and escalate ageing, disputed or problematic customer accounts
  • Recommend the suspension or withdrawal of credit account facilities in order to minimise the impacts of bad debt
  • Negotiate repayment plans for overdue payments
  • Liaise with accounts payable and other teams
  • Carry out monthly/quarterly reporting, reviewing old outstanding debts, bad debt provisions and write offs
  • Carry out other tasks as required

THE PERSON:

  • Previous experience within a credit control / collections / debt collections role is essential
  • Experience working with Sage 50 id desirable
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to chase overdue payments
  • Able to manage a busy workload
  • Strong computer skills
